Political Logic Bending: How a tax increase is not really a tax increase

Checkout: http://boortz.com/nealz_nuze/index.html

In the linked interview, The Speaker of The House attempts to explain that letting tax cuts expire is not a tax increase, but "eliminating a tax decrease"! Very entertaining television. Now, some of you liberal friends may think that the Bush tax cuts unfairly benefited the wealthy, but why not just say - 'OK, it is a tax increase, but a fair one.' and move on. I understand admitting a tax increase would be used in many campaigns, but so will this video clip because it is such a ridiculous stretch of logic.

More political craziness. Democrats won't allow Republicans to investigate favorable mortgage terms given to members of Congress who were supposed to regulate the mortgage industry, skip a committee meeting, then supposedly lock the Republicans out of the room! Why reelect any of these clowns?

(Shameful Republican Fundraising) 'Official' Census Letter Raises Questions - 11Alive.com | WXIA | Atlanta, GA

'Official' Census Letter Raises Questions - 11Alive.com | WXIA | Atlanta, GA

Basically, the article says that the national GOP put out an advertisement mailer that was designed to look like an official census document and had the intention of misleading people to fill out the forms and send them money.  I haven't seen this mailer but will report back if I get one.  If anyone can confirm that they have one of these mailers please comment and send me the document.

If true, whoever came up with this donation campaign in the Republican party should receive a very public firing, as well as anyone who approved of sending out the mailer. This is on the level of the fake check scams that defraud so many seniors of their money.

I'm a conservative, but any reasonable person should hold whatever political party they support (and their elected officials) to a very high standard.  We should all work to hold ourselves and those we elect (in this case the party behind the politicians) to a high ethical standard.  To complain call:  202.863.8500 (GOP headquarters).

Seek Knowledge For Yourself And Teach Others

Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.

Opening Post: An Explanation

After commenting and posting 6 political articles to Facebook today, my wife finally told me "Enough! My friends are going to hate you! Go start a blog." With that, I decided to join the 21st century, albeit without a Twitter page to call my own.

While I am arriving in blogville about 15,500,000 blogs (give or take several million) late, hopefully it will provide a small piece of thoughtful commentary from time to time.
